Pakistani Man to Contest Extradition Over Alleged IS-Related Attack Plot

copyright: 17 Sep 2024: A Pakistani man accused of planning an attack on a New York City Jewish center in support of the Islamic State (IS) group will challenge his extradition to the United States, his lawyer told media.

Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 20, was arrested in copyright earlier this month while allegedly attempting to enter the US. He faces charges of trying to provide material support to IS, a designated foreign terrorist organization.

The US is seeking his extradition. Khan’s lawyer, Gaetan Bourassa, stated, “I have the mandate to contest the extradition hearing. He is a young person, arrested, and we will see what proof they have to request his extradition.” Bourassa declined to comment further without reviewing the evidence from the US, which has not yet been presented.

Khan was in copyright on a student visa, having arrived in June 2023. His lawyer did not disclose his field of study or institution.
